Hi, my name is Lance Halfstrong, cycling legend in my own lunchtime. Since I rediscovered cycling a few years ago, my life has taken many interesting turns. Some of them were even planned!
I've become leaner and fitter, and I've dedicated quite a lot of my riding effort to charity. I have cycled from London to Paris three times - once when I was well, once when I was ill, and once when I was fixed.
A year after taking up cycling I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, which eventually turned out to be Crohn's Colitis. The strain of this nasty little disease, turned out to be very, very, nasty indeed - and in 2009, I had to have my colon whipped out before it killed me. (A bit like appendicitis but MUCH, MUCH, BIGGER!!)
So, now I'm back to rude health, and ready to start raising money for worthy causes. I've chosen the Ileostomy Association, for those of us who quite literally have bum bags!
