Story
From June 18th - 20th, Alan & Loraine will be attempting the Lake District 24 Peaks Challenge. This will involve walking/hiking/trekking/climbing/crawling up 24 Mountain Peaks in 24 hours actual walking time. The total height climbed is over 13,000ft & includes Red Pike, Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, & Gt Gable. A significant challenge, particularly as neither of us has attempted anything like this previously.
We will need to train hard in order to achieve the required fitness & endurance, & be willing to push ourselves physically & mentally to the limit during the event. With the 1st day taking somewhere between 13-17 hours, & the 2nd 8-12 hours, & both days starting out at 5am, this will be a gruelling couple of days. We are well aware of how difficult this could be, particularly if the weather is poor.
In addition to this, Alan is taking part in a separate YMCA walking event, the Y2Y, on 29th March, which is a walk of 26 Miles from Guildford to Reigate (which was completed successfully). It has been said that we are both "mad", perhaps so, but we'll be giving 100% when it matters.
The challenge however does not stop there. Also we are hoping to raise money for the Reigate & Redhill YMCA Challenge Fund, which is supporting the following local community projects; Yippee Project, Next Step, Face to Face, Smart, Fitness Pioneers, Fit for Life, Y Mania, Heads Together. All of these projects help to support underprivileged, disabled, & vulnerable children/young people, & could not exist in these tough times without "extra" funding, which your sponsorship of us will help to provide.
We really appreciate your funding & support, & do assure you that all funds go directly to those in need locally. Please help inspire us to complete the main event, & help to fund these vital projects, by making an online donation from this page.
Thank You.
