Lang Way Roon · 5 August 2010

We're Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). We care for children throughout Scotland with life-shortening conditions and their families. We make sure that no matter how short their time together may be, it is filled with happiness. Even in the pain of grief, we're determined that joy lives on.

LANG WAY ROON

This started off as a personal effort to raise funds for The Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland and Cancer Research. So please dinna forget to check out my sister page for Cancer Research

A self financed tour of Scotland and ALL monies raised will be divided between these two charities.

There are many epic style fundraising events and very well done to people participating in them, however my personal involvement in this event will not be to the detriment of any funds raised. It will not for example pay for event organisers/agents, participants fuel or accommodation or food during this trip.

I proposed initially this was a solo trip and to be accomplished in three days, however it appears to have generated a bit of interest and is beginning to gather momentum. I herby formally invite interested individuals and groups to offer any support they are able to this wee venture, any rude or inappropriate comments they may think up in the next week or so would also be gratefully appreciated.

Carrick Round Table rallied to the challenge and a few are actually participating and kindly providing the food on Sunday and donating a prize. (Details to follow)

The original plan was to travel from Crosshill to Straiton (Approx 4 miles) - taking

THE LANG WAY ROON”

The amendment to this plan is now journeying from the Royal Pub in Crosshill to the function room at the back of the Pub!. In a way a little more interesting than wandering around the pool table –

A Wee jaunt around the coast of Scotland, (It is Not A race)

This way is approx 1099 ish miles and Mr W Goldie (Farmer Dude) has aspired to complete this on a quad bike !!……….(although we will not hold him to it , as he is obviously as daft as a brush !)

The 3 day trip was a bit strenuous and in order to make it a bit more fun for youse weak punters it has been stretched to 4 days in order to provide some respite to sair bums fraid nerves and stuff , and have more fun .

Credo for the trip is – Solo/partner/team– make your own way to that day’s destination – in your own time – shelter for the night, food and a cuppa – banter mebby wee dram, mair banter and then kip.

Suggestions for accommodation are provided, however a brilliant suggestion that came my way was,  how about we have a support vehicle with food,  sleeping bags, luggage ………..drink for night time

(Horlicks/milk etc) and essentials like Tents/sleepingbags/clothes ? (Point of contact/first aid/flasks of tea/sannies etc). So that is now in place – sensible requests for items to be carried in support vehicle will now be considered. Book your junk in early when there is still space !

LANG WAY ROON for a’budy !

The event appears to have opened itself up to car users and let’s face it Roaming about Scotland for 4 days accommodation sorted, a wee feed and a little Drink------not forgetting about the driving the next day. The

more folk in the car or on the bike the better……

The point of more fun is not an unattractive one and the easier and more relaxed the event will become with more people involved .

The whole lot is open to suggestions, refinements, improvements and stuff  !!
