On September 24th 2009 Karen Puddifoot, 27 and Tim Roney, 21, sadly passed away while touring by boat in Vietnam.

They had just embarked on the second leg of what would have been a charity fundraising trip attempting to cycle the world by push bike and raising funds for the British Lung Foundation.

Karen's brother Chris, who had also been part of this fundraising trip tragically passed away on the 10th November 2009. He was due to join them and continue their fundraising journey together. We are all so deeply saddend that Karen, Chris and Tim have left us so soon and in such tragic circumstances.

Inspired by their adventures, their willingness to help others and fun loving personalities we have decided to carry on their journey, planning a calendar of events with the aim to celebrate Karen's life, her friendship and continue charitable work in her name.

With your help and support we can help continue Karen's Journey and reach the fundraising target she will sadly be unable to.

THE NEXT BIG EVENT:

Karen's Bike Ride, Saturday 13th Februaury 2010

Our next event for your diaries will be a sponsored cycle ride between the film studios that were part of Karen's beloved career as an Art Director in the film industry. This will be approximately 33 miles and take place to coincide with her birthday on the 15th February.

 

The route will take in the following points of Karen's life:

Eastbury Farm School

West Herts College

Leavesden Film Studios

Pinewood Film Studios

And of course her home in Grove Farm Park, Northwood

Previous Events:

Fundraising at Vicarage Road, Watford – Watford FC v Nottingham Forest FC – 26th December 2009

The buckets were out in force for today’s game. Money was collected before the game, at half time and after the game had finished. We are pleased to say that a grand total of £2030.00 was raised for the charity.

The club very kindly printed the story in their match day programme which can be seen here on their official website.

We would like to thank Watford FC for all their help in the fundraising and wish them all the luck for the rest of the season.

 

Nike Human Race 10k, Victoria Park, London: 24th October 2009

This was the first event to kick off our fundraising journey in honour of Karen, Chris & Tim.

Clare completed the race in 53mins which is brilliant work. Pictures from that event are now available on the website.

From this event alone Clare managed to raise £505 which will be kindly doubled by Clare employer Vodafone giving Karen's Journey a grand total of £1010 so far!
