My story

edit: This is the second time i'm trying this. After a back injury i had to pull out of the event in March. I'm now back (no pun intended) for The Fight IV and determined to start what i finished! Thank you everyone so far for your donations and support!

So the Fight- 8 weeks of training twice a week with 30 others at Monkstown Boxing Club. All leading up to an event in the Ramada Hotel at Shaw's Bridge on the 7th June.

Those that know me know I possess about as much co-ordination as a baby Deer trying to walk…drunk….on the ice. I’ve already decided my ‘tactic’ will be just to run and duck. No hitting, just avoiding the punches. It’s a foolproof plan right? I love that friends have been placing bets on my winning. Winning? Surviving is my goal!

Why am i doing this? Well, we know all beneficial exercise is but sometimes when you're in the middle of an episode (and by that i mean the blues, the black dog, whatever you want to call depression and anxiety) it's not so easy to help yourself. Having this commitment and opportunity to learn a new skills gives me a focus for the next few months.

Exercise is fundamental in managing your mental health so i know there'll be huge benefits to getting out of the house and pushing myself.

This is the second event i've done for Aware. The last was the 18mile Big Foot Walk. (I still have flashbacks to the crotch deep freeze incident) As most of you know Aware is a charity close to my heart. The more people talk about 'it', the more chance there is of people recognising that it’s ok not to be "fine".

It’s a fitness challenge, it’s a mental challenge. Expect lots of tears....But sure i like being out of my comfort zone.

So yes, if you'd like to pay people to hit me then please please donate your pennies!
