In March 2008 we will be embarking on a journey into possibly the toughest environment on the planet - the Arctic. We will be surrounded by a frozen landscape 300 miles north of the Arctic Circle with only the sound of the panting Alaskan huskies and crunching of the snow under the sled's runners for company. We will be braving average daily temperatures of -5 to -35C. As part of a 13 person (and several dog) team we will be aiming to cross 200km of sometimes harsh Arctic landscape in 5 days. Why are we doing this?! We will be undertaking this adventure to raise as much money as possible for Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, a worthy cause indeed. The aims of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home are to Rescue, Reunite, Rehabilitate and Rehome. It achieves these through its famous Battersea centre as well as two satellite 'mini Batterseas' in Berkshire and Kent allowing cats and dogs that are totally unsuited to city life to be rehomed to more appropriate and spacious conditions. Our target is £6,000 so we, but more importantly the thousands of dogs and cats helped by Battersea each year, will be eternally grateful for all your generous support. Please visit our website www.getjealous.com/lauraandchrisforbattersea where we hope to keep you all up to date with our progress and fundraising events. Believe us, there's a lot to do! We have to reach our targets (as well as get fit!) so please support us through our trials and tribulations on the road to the Arctic.
Thank you all so much for your most generous donations.
