My story

Hi Again Everyone!

I am signed up again for 2011 Just Walk!  I had such a great time last year and the achievement for me was incredible.

It is so very hard for me to walk 10km/6.2miles.  I really struggle - especially in the middle when I got so stiff my legs wouldnt go in front of each other.

But I had a great time and there was no hurry so I could rest all I needed.  And I raised just under £2000.00 for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign which I am very proud of.

So I am off again this year and will start to train towards the end of Feb when it gets a bit warmer.  My muscles cease up in the cold and make it impossible for me and I ache terribly.

But I know I can do this great walk.  It is not just about walking - it is about being able to take part.  There is so much that I CANT do with my disability and I am often left out of physical events, so this is great for me and I love the feeling of being part of a huge event with everyone else.

I am also walking this year for my friend Eden -

Eden cant walk, she never has.  Eden has another strain of Muscular Dystrophy which renders her a lot more disabled than I am.  She is a great friend of mine and she is a very brave 11 year old girl.  So I am proud to be walking for both us and when it gets tough - I shall just be glad that I have the choice!

Just Walk is held on the South Downs - based at Goodwood racecourse.  The routes are set and waymarked with marshalls and rest stops along the way. I am walking the shorter route, but with thousands of people walking the various routes the atmosphere is amazing.

I cant tell you how proud and elated I felt when I crossed the finish line with my friends at the end of the walk and the end of a very long day for me. 

So, I am going to do it all again and with your help, I shall raise lots of money for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
