Your local Marie Curie Hospice actively promotes quality of life for people with cancer and provides support for their families. The services are completely free to patients. World class scientists at the Marie Curie Research Institute are investigating how cancer develops to find better ways of treating the disease in the future.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Bike the Baltic Cycle Challenge

Four routes, covering a total distance of 2,091km, across five countries, over four weeks by bike...

I kid you not!

Starting on August 16th 2008 I will be Biking the Baltic for Marie Curie Cancer Care, in this their 60th anniversary year, to help raise money for the excellent work that Marie Curie Cancer Care does to look after and support terminally ill cancer patients.

The Bike the Baltic Cycle Challenge hopes to raise more than £1million in total which would be enough to provide 50,000 hours of Marie Curie nursing care.

The money I raise will help Marie Curie Cancer Care to continue providing this great, high quality nursing care totally free to terminally ill people, to support them and their loved ones.  For further information on Marie Curie Cancer Care, please go to www.mariecurie.org.uk

Unfortunately, I have been unable to raise 80% of the £9500 minimum sponsorship required to participate in the full four week challenge which I registered for, and as such my minimum sponsorship target is now £2500.  Despite the reduced sponsorship target, I would still like to raise as much as I possibly can for Marie Curie Cancer Care, a very worthwhile charity, and would hope to exceed this.

I will be taking part in Route 1 - Warsaw, Poland to Vilnius, Lithuania (621km over 6 days).  To find out more about this route, and the Bike the Baltic Cycling Challenge, please go to www.bikethebaltic.co.uk 

A donation of £20 pays for one of hour of nursing care by a Marie Curie Nurse.  Please dig deep and give what you can - every little bit helps and it really is a worthy cause.
