Bupa Great South Run 2009 · 25 October 2009 ·

HoverAid hovercraft reach remote rural communities in the developing world, enabling aid, development, relief, and church organisations to reach people who are otherwise completely inaccessible. It's a vital link, bringing hope to communities along shallow rivers, through swamps, and during floods; transporting doctors, enabling education programmes, and supporting local initiatives.

Story

Yo.

So someone signed me up to run ten miles and now it's two weeks away and I've suddenly realised that all the effort I've been putting into my training is meant to be going towards a good cause!

HoverAid are Christians who take medical supplies up shallow rivers on hovercraft in Madagascar (because boats can't make it and the roads are useless.) They are 'reaching the unreachable', and many of you will know this is the kind of thing I'd happily spend my life doing, so while I wait to be trained enough to do it myself, I'm supporting the work of those already out there.

Please give generously!

As I'm sure you've all remembered, my birthday is coming up in just over a month...why not give the cost of a birthday card to sponsor me and just give me a smile on the day instead? If you were planning to be really generous I'll even forego a present if you'll donate money instead. I'd also love it if anyone fancies coming to sunny Portsmouth to support me in person, and we can all have a nice (huge in my case!) lunch - we could go the whole hog and donate a fiver each and bring sarnies instead of buying fish and chips. Just a thought.

I love you!
