I decided during a dark and damp day in January that it might be a good idea to enter myself into some charity races for 2009! Before I could change my mind, I had entered for the following runs (and a bike ride - just for a little variation on the theme!):

1. The Bupa 10k Great Edinburgh Run - 3rd May - FINISH TIME 1 HOUR 12 MINS 06 SECS - HOT, HILLY, FANTASTIC FIRST RACE, GOT ON TV!!

2. Liverpool Women's 10k - 10th May - FINISH TIME 1 HOUR 7 MINS 05 SECS - PERFECT COOL, DRY MORNING, VERY PLEASED WITH IMPROVED TIME :)

3. The Bupa Great Manchester 10k Run - 17th May - FINISH TIME 1 HOUR 5 MINS 41 SECS - HUGE RACE, 33,000 RUNNERS, OVERCAST, FABULOUS ATMOSPHERE

4. Birmingham Race for Life 5k - 24th May - FINISH TIME 30 MINUTES 14 SECONDS - SUNBATHING WEATHER, ROCKED THE BIRMINGHAM NEC

5. Liverpool Race for Life 5k - 31st May - FINISH TIME 28 MINUTES 57 SECONDS - SCORCHING IN SEFTON PARK! PLEASING SPRINT AT THE END, HOT HOT HOT

6. Tatton Park 10k - 7th June - FINISH TIME 1 HOUR 1 MIN 37 SECS - VERY BUSY RUN, OVER GRASS ALL THE WAY!, COOL AND DRY

7. Chester Race for Life 5k - 14th June - FINISH TIME 30 MINS 33 SECS - SOOO HOT! CRACKING RACE AROUND CHESTER

8. Bike Unite - a 60k bike ride between Manchester and Liverpool's Children's Hospitals - 28th June - WOW! CRAZY BIKE RIDE, WE COVERED 38.91 MILES, ATE A LOT OF FLIES, GOT STUNG BY NETTLES, I CRASHED TWICE, SAW AMAZING VIEWS AND HAD A GREAT TIME! IT WAS TOUGH!

9. Urbanathalon Manchester (Run over an assault course!) - 2nd August - SO MUCH FUN! TOTALLY CRAZY RUN AROUND MANCHESTER WHICH INVOLVED (AMONGST OVER THINGS!) JUMPING OVER HAYSTACKS, RUNNING THROUGH PONDS, SLIDING THROUGH THE FOREST WHILST BEING DRENCHED BY FIREMEN!, CRAWLING UNDER AND OVER ALL VARIETIES OF ROPES AND BARS AND VAULTING OVER 2 PARKED CARS! A LOT OF FUN

10. Great North Run - Half Marathon 13.1 miles - 20th September - FINISH TIME 2 HOURS, 43 MINS 12 SECS - AMAZING EXPERIENCE WITH 55,000 OTHER RUNNERS, HOT SUNNY DAY, SHOOK HANDS WITH STING, RAN IN A TUTU, LOVED THE RED ARROWS, PEOPLE OF NEWCASTLE ARE AMAZING, MUM GOT ANOTHER PB :) I WOULD DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR!

11. Liverpool ASICS 10k - 4th October - FINISH TIME 1 HOUR, 6 MINS 24 SECS - RAN THIS ONE FOR GRANDPA, LAST BIG RUN OF THE YEAR, PERFECT WEATHER, LOST MY TRAINERS :) THIS ONE GAVE ME STRENGTH

12. Liverpool Santa Dash 5k - 6th Dec

I will keep this website up to date with training tales, finish times (no matter how slow!), and plenty of photos.

I am taking part in all my events to raise money for the fantastic Alder Hey Imagine Appeal. This webpage will accept donations for the whole of 2009 and I hope that I can count on your support in exceeding my target.

The seemingly random target actually represents the total number of kilometres which I will be covering throughout the year during the races which I have entered (156.1k)

Please save my page in your bookmarks and take a look every now and again. Every pound donated would be so very welcome.

The Imagine Appeal is the name of Alder Hey Hospital's children's charity. It's a fundraising campaign that helps the staff at the hospital to continue their pioneering work, to develop facilities and to offer the very highest standards of care to the 250,000 children who are treated at Alder Hey every single year. Every donation they receive helps to improve the quality of life for children in hospital - including those with cardiac conditions, those with leukaemia, those with learning difficulties and those with cleft lip and palate. It's a wonderful charity that sees streams of celebrities walk the halls of Alder Hey each month (a perk of the job!) - they are all trying to do their bit. I would really like to do mine and I would really appreciate your help.
