We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

Thank you all for visiting my page. So why am I taking on this crazy challenge I hear you ask?!

3 years ago a very good friend of mine, Emily Pearce, lost her life to Type 1 Diabetes. She was 1/5 of my 'girls'. I'd met Em a couple of years before attending my Secondary school, whilst we were at the same swimming club. Coincidently and unexpectedly we ended up in the same form class and became good friends, along with 3 other fabulous girls who made up our little group.
Em was the hardest working out of all of us! She was always the lead in the Matthew Arnold school productions and was elected Head girl! She could never put a foot wrong! After school Emily discovered she had inherited Type 1 Diabetes. However, rather than wallowing in self pity, Em carried on with the netball and even ran a few half marathons! This is only a snippet to show how amazing she was.

Em tragically suffered a hypo during her sleep and died instantly at the age of 29. A month later she was due to travel to Australia with her boyfriend, who had bought a ring to propose to her.

For 3 years now I have wanted to take on a tough challenge in Emily's memory. To raise awareness to how serious living with Diabetes can be and to raise money so other sufferers can receive the treatment and support they need.

What better way than being covered in mud and plunging into Ice cold water and let's not spend too long discussing the fact that you end the course by being electrocuted!!!

I know Em will be there by my side throughout the 12 mile course, no doubt shouting her head off, just like she did when I did the Moonwalk in my bra!!  But I would really appreciate your support by sponsoring whatever you can so no one else has to endure what her family and friends have.

I may break some bones, or have an asthma attack halfway round, but at least I'll have good skin from the mud mask ;-)

Xxxx
