Hello!
The reason I’ve decided to run this marathon, on relatively short a training programme, is to raise money for the charity I was visiting in Chennai in India earlier this summer.
I went to Chennai as part of my work with Christians in Sport, and whilst there we served with the Indian ‘Christian Sports Fellowship’ and ‘Sangita Charitable Trust.’ It is the ongoing work of both these organisations which I would like to support through running in Budapest. Visiting these 2 projects twice now in the last 18 months has left an indelible impression on me, and I am both humbled and inspired by what they are doing for the most poor and needy of their city.Christian Sports Fellowship— similar to CIS, CSF exists to reach and disciple sports people for Christ. They run a variety of coaching programmes in some very poor communities across the city, as well as going into schools and universities to promote Christian values in sport and share about Jesus Christ.
Sangita Charitable Trust— is a Christian orphanage which cares for any child who needs a home, food and love—irrespective of caste, religion and denominations. The children are from various difficult backgrounds. At Sangita they receive a wonderful home, good food, education and total sacrificial unconditional love. At present they care for 87 children from 2-7 years old in a 2 bed roomed rented house, obviously very hard pressed for room, they are waiting for the completion of the home pictured here, which is going to be a fantastic blessing to their work! Alongside the orphanage, Sangita has responded to much need in the surrounding villages through regular community sports programs, health and medical support and a project specifically for widows. They run a monthly program delivering vitamins and food supplies to 200 widows, as well as offering emotional and spiritual support to them when they visit.
So big thank you for coming to this page, and sponsoring me - If you would like to specify which of the two projects you would like your money to go to then that would be fine also!thanks and love Laura x
