Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Our mum died on 22nd April 2009. Her working life as a social worker was devoted to the care of the elderly and she was passionate about the rights of older people. She served on the Boards of Alzheimers Scotland and Age Concern. To these organisations she brought experience, wisdom and commitment. Locally, she helped establish the Braveheart project at Falkirk Royal Infirmary and she was Scottish Convenor of BASWA Scotland Committee. Those who knew her professionally will remember her high standards and principles and the care and support she gave. Her family remember a mother and grandmother who had a clear sense of right and wrong and who believed in working hard, fighting for what is right and never compromising your principles. She never gave up easily when a task was worth doing and put the needs of others before her own. She has left us a great legacy.
I do not possess her skills or knowledge but want to try and raise money for a cause so close to her heart in her memory.
Alzheimer's disease has a profund effect on the lives of many. I do appreciate money is tight just now for everyone but remember that if i raise £50 this can fund a day of respite care often so badly needed by loved ones and if i raise £100 this can fund a bath lift so a loved one can continue to remain at home.
I have chosen to complete two major events close together which i hope will inspire you to sponsor me. I will run the the half marathon at The Great Scottish Fun Run in Glasgow on 6th September and then move onto the Run to the Beat half marathon in London on the 27th of September.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer Scotland gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now! THANK YOU
