Story
Ruben was born in 2019 and was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta, a heart murmur and a bicuspid valve. On the 5th April, at just 3 days old, Ruben underwent 6 hour open heart surgery to repair his aorta. He spent another 5 days in hospital at the Leeds congenital hert unit at LGI before coming home. It was the hardest thing we ever had to go through but 3 years later we have a crazy, happy, energetic and amazing little boy! The children's heart surgery fund support the heart unit and ensure the families are able to stay nearby and that every child gets a katie bear and certificate as well as helping buy specialist equipment and lots of other things!
I gave birth to Rubens little sister, Lyra, via C section in december so running has not been easy and just to make it a bit harder for myself, i am going to be running the Great North Run dressed as a turtle!
🏃🏼♀️🥵❤️
