Hello. Thanks for dropping in on my fundraising page,I have made this page as I amd 2 other friends are going to climb Ben Nevis,to raise funds for the Charles Halle Foundation. The good news is,another attempt was made on the 1st September, and as you can see from my homepage pic, we made it,taking 4hrs 10mins.The weather was variable, wet at the start, but it became clearer, as we climbed, with low cloud at times, but generally visibility was good enough to complete the ascent, because the path was clearly visible.. This time, there were 2 other friends, joining me,Colin Cooper, and his Dad Les(Colin has attended Halle concerts, and enjoyed the hospitality and music-making)Colin is on the left, myself in the middle ,and Les on the right..Sadly Jonathan(team member) could not make it,because (at very short notice)he had other important commitments,he was very dissappointed,he could not do the climb. Please keep the donations coming in,as we have now completed our task.....donations end on the 11th September. The reason for our efforts; Jon and I regularly attend concerts and support the Halle as Patrons,so we thought,as we have received a lot of hospitality from the organisation in the past,we thought,(with your help),it would be good to put something back in. The Halle are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, and as the UK`s oldest professional Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1858, their education programmes are a wonderful inspiration to schoolchildren from all over the North West.. This is a result of some of the professional players of the Halle regularly getting involved with the children,to educate, and giving them an insight into the world of the orchestra,in a large Concert Hall, such as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and some even get the chance to perform at the Bridgewater in front of 2000 children.. We firmly believe this must continue, but sadly, like most things, this costs money,so this is why we are asking you to support us. We have set our first target at only £150,(for 150 yrs of the Halle)but of course the more we raise, the better. I must be mad, as I am frightened of heights,(wont tread more than 20 ft up a ladder)but last years climb was an inspiration to me,and we got to 4000ft,so we thought, as we got so close to the summit last year, lets give it another go,but this time, to spur us on even more,we hit on the idea,"We can raise money for the Halle as well?". I can assure you, if you donate to this page, its our way of saying,"thanks for your support and confidence in us",........that will mean a lot to us. The Halle is only able to create the wonderful experiences for the children, through the support of the public, people like yourselves.I have been fortunate and seen at first hand, how much the children enjoy their day out to the Bridgewater Hall, and I believe,if they were to lose that,it would be very sad,so lets dig deep, and keep it going.I always believe that some of these children may,one day be our future Halle players. If we reach the target we can all rejoice and sing Halle(lujah)..but I promise not to sing on the way up,dont want to upset the weather. For your peace of mind..................donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: The Charles Halle Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.The money goes straight into the Halle fund. We want to reach new heights, the Halle have done just that, since Mark Elder.C.B.E. took over in 2000.
So please sponsor us now!
Thank you for your doantions, and support. Lawrence and Jonathan(also Colin and Les)
