ISIS
ISIS is a charitable trust based in Bermuda. Their mission is to make a positive difference to children in the developing world, through Health and Education programmes in Uganda and Nepal..
LCC is supporting a neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU) project at the Kiwoku Hospital, Uganda. This hospital was founded in 1987 and is a 25 acre facility treating over 45,000 outpatients per year and 6,300 in-patients. Facilities include health checkups, maternity, paediatricians, rehabilitation, dental, eye care, diabetes clinic and nutrition programmes. The community based care department assists people with HIV / AIDS
The NICU project will increase the number of Neo-natal beds from 14 to 26. Improve facilities including infection control and isolation and equipment for pre-term and full term babies. Increase staffing and training for NICU staff. The cost of this project is $200,000 to complete and so far $100,000 worth of funding is in place. This funding supports the costs on the building, medical equipment and furnishings. ISIS and Kiwoku hope the additional $100,000 will be raised by LCC and other supporters.
The main charity raising event for 2009:
LCC is riding from Lands End to John O’Groats in June 2009. A team of LCC riders will each complete the 1,050 miles. This will be completed over 8 days, averaging 131 miles a day. Each rider will also elect a charity of their choice for money raised. The riders are funding all the costs themselves so that all money raised goes to charity.
