On Friday 17th September 2010, a group of 6 of us will be undertaking a 10-mile night hike through London to raise money for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres. The walk is part of an official event organised by the charity. Up to 4,000 people are expected to take part.
Maggie's build centres on the sites of major cancer specialist hospitals in the UK - architecturally designed spaces where anyone directly or indirectly affected by cancer can pop-in for advice and support. The money raised from this night hike will go towards the building of more centres, each of which costs £3 million.
Unfortunately, too many people are diagnosed with cancer every day. Whilst the quest to find a cure for the disease continues, Maggie's offers practical and emotional support for those living with the disease on a day-to-day basis.
