London to Leam 100 Bike Ride · 13 August 2007

In the UK, a woman dies every two hours from ovarian cancer. As the leading ovarian cancer research charity, we’re working to change that. By finding new and better ways to prevent, treat and detect ovarian cancer, we will ensure a future where no woman dies of ovarian cancer.

Story

We're riding a hundred miles from London to Leamington to show support for our friend Emily who is undergoing her 2nd batch of chemo treatments against ovarian cancer.

(with the exception of Laura, who's doing the Great North Run... thanks Laura!)

UPDATE:  We did it!!  2 punctures, 2 spare tyres, 1 spare bike, 1 idiot London driver, 1 pulled muscle, 1 case of tendonitis, 1 full day of rain, 3 near cases of hypothermia, 2 bursts of tears, 16 pairs of soaking wet gloves, socks and shoes, 38 energy bars, 50 litres of water and 100 miles later…

Emily has chosen Ovarian Cancer Action to receive our donations.  OVA are dedicated to improving survival rates by funding research, raising awareness and giving a voice.

Ovarian Cancer is difficult to detect as its symptoms are similar to IBS.  The fact that most cases are detected in late stages contributes to the low survival rate for the disease.  If detected early chances of survival are much greater, and therefore it's worth checking if you experience severe, persistent or very frequent IBS symptoms.
