During the 3 days leading up to Drupalcon Paris 2009, a couple of intrepid Drupal developers (web geeks who very rarely see the light of day let alone take regular exercise) from the UK (John and myself) plan to pedal from London to Paris for our respective charities.

I like a challenge so I'll be riding my beloved Brompton, a bike that folds to the size of a large carrier bag, has 16" wheels and only 3 gears so it should make for an interesting journey!

As you can see, I'm riding for the Meningitis Trust, I'm sure there's no need for me to convince you how awful this disease is... so please give what you can to this marvellous charity who support those who have been affected by the disease. Find out what intelligentgiving.com have to say about the Meningitis Trust.

Please make as much noise as you can about our venture, tell your friends, tell the world!

Thanks to North View Boarding Kennels for their donation of £10.00

Update (13th Aug 2009) - Thanks to everyone who has donated so far and the kind (sometimes rude) comments of support :) Training and route planning is going well, the weather has been pretty poor but it hasn't stopped me getting out there and doing some miles! Keep those donations coming in and I'll update again soon!

Update (2nd Sep 2009) - Hey I made it to the Eiffel Tower! What an epic journey, 70 miles completed on day 1 through busy London streets and a storm of climatic proportions! Then a ride through pitch back sleepy French roads in the early hours of Saturday morning emerging into daylight to reach Gournay-en-Bray and the final painful pedal by pedal 60 miles into Paris on Sunday including a 'needle in the haystack' hunt for the tower once I got into Paris.

Thanks for all who have donated so far, it's not too late to chip in and give to this great cause, every donation really helps those affected by Meningitis so please give what you can.

Now to waddle off and find a soft chair... :)
