The RBL are the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces and their dependents.

Story

Hey hey

I'd like to ask you to think about two quick (but important) things.

1: On Sunday I'm running a marathon.  Ludicrous, I know.  What's more ludicrous, is that I haven't had a beer since June!  And I'm afraid I'm going to ask you to sponsor me, helping to kick off this year's Poppy Appeal (the ad campaign is due to break on Monday. You can see some of the ads if you click on the 'photos' link off to the left of this blurb).

2: Once you've donated, and got that warm feeling inside, copy time to do your bit, paste it into Google, and consider signing the petition.

The first bit is easy.  You can donate right here in this site. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to The Royal British Legion and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Nine and half million people across the country are eligible for help.  That's one in six of us!

The second bit is a bid to influence the manifestos of the political parties in the run up to the general election, to ensure that the next government does their bit for the whole Armed Forces family.  You can find out a bit more when you search time to do your bit.

A huge thankyou for sponsoring me.  Another whopping thankyou for adding your name to the petition.  And I'd really appreciate it if you spare me a thought on Sunday; raise a glass at about one o'clock - I'll be getting very good at drinking ale again from about that time!

Thanks

Matt
