Kilimanjaro Climb · 8 April 2009

The Philemon Foundation's aim is to break chains and restore lives. It does this by rehabilitating prisoners and former prisoners in Kenya, providing food, shelter, counselling, community, training and employment with the ultimate goal of reintegration into society. Philemon works with Government and civil society groups, local churches and international partners.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page on behalf of Philemon on whose behalf I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro!

Please sponsor me the price of a drink (or more if you can!).  This is an exceptionally worthwhile cause which means a lot to me personally after visiting some Kenyan prisons a few years ago.  I saw at first hand the squalid conditions people are forced to exist in often as a result of nothing more than bribery, corruption or unfortunate circumstance.  Your generous support could help Philemon make the difference between people leaving prison alive to see relatives and friends again and not doing so; malnutrition and disease are all too prevalent in what are often overcrowded nineteenth century prisons.

Funding for Philemon also means that former prisoners are able to help themselves and work again to support their families and be productive members of society.

Donating through Justgiving is quick and secure. It’s also an efficient way to sponsor me: Philemon Ministries UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
