Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In the UK and around the world, we make sure children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can become who they want to be. Your donation will help vulnerable children wherever the need is greatest.

Story

Back in June, I was in the Emergency Room at Harlow Hospital. Struck down with pneumonia. Lee Evans walks in, sees me, and asks if I’ve got any last requests. “Yeah, I wanna run the marathon,” I wheeze, with what felt like possibly my final breath. “You do it, I’ll do it!” he said, feeling relaxed as he sat on the bed and squeezed my oxygen tube…for a laugh!

But here we are, a few months on and we’re only bloody doing it. I am holding Lee to his word because by an accident of birth I was saved from certain death by medicine and good care. Being born in Britain we have a chance - our kids can be saved if struck down with pneumonia…the biggest killer of children across the world. The statistics are sobering. More than a thousand kids in India a day die from pneumonia. Parents mourn the death of their child whether it’s Derby or Dehli.

Every donation will save a child’s life.

Lee:- “Everyone looking at this site, donate something. That’s an order. For the price of a cup of tea you can save a child’s life. ‘Hold that second cuppa Doris, today I’m saving lives!’ Then walk out of the café, your head held high and give it a chorus of ‘What Have You Done Today To Make You Feel Proud?!’ ”
