I was going to register for the 100 mile route , but apparently the 100km is a lot more scenic ! Honest !!

And it's actually 111km (but lets not quibble) - which equates to approx. 70miles (a little less, so am rounding up for effect).

Training has been underway for a good few weeks now, with plenty of miles already under my belt (and that doesn't include the series link of the Tour De France).

Think I've been through more villages in the past few weeks, than I have done in the years before, with still more to come before the 2nd November.

What I will try to do is add a little update each week to inform of progress, and where I have visited since the last update. Obviously this is purely to entice you back so can donate even more money. (I know it's hardly the same as the guy who went round the world on his bike, but its the best you are going to get from me - for now!).

This weekend's training ride is to Lyme Regis (and back hopefully), and will also plan a trip to Exmoor (in the car!) to see what awaits.

My personal target is to complete the 70miles in 5-6 hours, or failing that a nice comfy cushion and hopefully not too long a wait for the feeling in my legs to return.

My financial target is to raise £500, as LV= will match anything I raise up to that figure!

All this and not a ciggie in sight

12/10/2008:

Welcome back - as promised I'm here to let you know how things went this week.

I had my first tumble this week, due to a dodgy front light left me in complete darkness. Luckily after the scrape, rider and bike unharmed. In fact it was kinda fun !!!

I went to Wimbleball Lake just to familiarise myself with the surroundings.

I think I need more training

To that end I am sat here, suffering only slightly, after completing my trek to Lyme Regis. A 55 mile round trip, taking just over 4 hours. Still on track, and am made up with the time. Something to aim for, and improve over the next couple of weeks.

Not sure yet where the next trip will be to, but as always I will keep you all posted on my progress!

Almost there, and from the event organisers final instructions, is starting to look very daunting.

Have been on some long training rides over the last couple of weeks, and so I guess I'm as ready as I'm gonna be

But the motivation I need is the money donated so far, and have now surpassed my original target, so that is fantastic news. Chuffed to bits with the support I have had. A special mention to Matt and Dave who will also be taking on the challenge, and have collected sponsorship which will be added to the grand total.

I will be back after the weekend with a final figure and news of how we got on!!

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL HAVE DONATED SO FAR!

Now for those who haven't, click on the "Sponsor Me Now" button, please!

Sorted!!
