FUSILIER L J (LEE) RIGBY

It is with great sadness that I report the soldier who died in Woolwich yesterday is believed to be Fusilier Lee Rigby of the 2 Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. We await formal identification from the Metropolitan Police Service. The Colonel of the Regiment, on behalf of all Fusiliers, sends his deepest sympathy and condolences to Lee’s family and friends at this most difficult time.

The whole Fusilier family will now come together to provide strength and solace for Lee’s family and friends and for our Fusiliers deployed overseas and on operations. The message from the Regiment is; we will stand firm and united and as a Fusilier family provide support and succour to Fusilier Rigby’s family and friends. The 1 Battalion is on operations in Afghanistan and the 2 Battalion in Cyprus is the Theatre Reserve Battalion. These Fusiliers will be even more determined to carry out their missions with pride, honour and dignity in the finest traditions of the Regiment.

Once a Fusilier, always a Fusilier.
