I am running the london marathon for LAM Action, an organisation fighting LAM, a very rare terminal lung disease which affects women only and about which not a lot is known.  My girlfriends mother has the disease and the money means a huge amount to the sufferers, largely because rare diseases don't attract the funding of the "bigger" diseases so they very much have to fight for the research and fund it themselves.  The disease is of course no less malicious than it's better known cousins.  For info see www.lamaction.org
