We help disabled children and adults to take part in sport.

Story

WheelPower, the national charity for wheelchair sport and Leisure Connection have teamed up to raise vital funds for the Wheel Appeal which aims to provide 2,012 sports wheelchairs to young disabled athletes by 2012.

Leisure Connection is delighted to support this Appeal and all of the 30 leisure and sports contracts within our estate are aiming to raise enough money for at least one wheelchair.  Just £3,000 will provide a new sports wheelchair, together with training and support from WheelPower’s expert staff at Stoke Mandeville Stadium to enable a disabled child or adult to participate in sport and lead a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life.

Graham Farrant, CEO of Leisure Connection is trying his racquet, rowing and boxing hand, as well as swimming and even whitewater rafting, across our 30 contracts as part of this fundraising challenge.

Anything you can do to help us towards our £90,000 total would be very much appreciated and you are more than welcome to attend – and participate – in any one of our local challenges. You can, of course, also use your participation or sponsorship to raise your own company’s profile around this charity, and we would be pleased to support reciprocal publicity for you.  We are promoting this Appeal as widely as possible and would be pleased to include your contributions in our publicity.

Leisure Connection have been working with WheelPower for a number of years and know first hand the truly inspirational difference this charity makes to the lives of people who have been previously unable to participate in top-level sport because of a lack of suitable wheelchairs and support.

With your help Leisure Connection can help change the lives of at least 30 disabled people and their families.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: WheelPower will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support.
