Lands End to John O'Groats · 6 February 2008

The CJD Support Network offers advice, information and support for patients, carers and professionals involved in any form of suspected or confirmed CJD. We offer emotional and practical support; disseminate new information as research develops and offer advice for those who may be deemed at risk.

Story

Thank you for visiting our LEJOG fundraising page!

NEWS!

On Friday the 9th of May, Nick Peters, Paul Elson, Martyn Robertson and Simon Palmer rode into John O'Groats having completed the 874 miles from Lands End to John O'Groats in under 7 days!

The trip involved cycling between 100 and 150 miles a day with the harder parts of the route going across Dartmoor, the Lake District and the Cairngorms.

So why did we do this?

We did the trip in memory of my father, Ray Palmer, who in March 2007 lost his 18 month fight with Prion disease (a disease related to the more widely known VCJD). We want to raise as much money as we can for the CJD support network so that other families that have to go through the terrible experience of losing a loved one to CJD will have the support that this charity can offer to make the experience that little bit easier.

The CJD support network plays a valuable role in providing practical and emotional support and advice to the families whilst also supporting research into the disease. We want to support this charity by raising as much money as possible so that the charity can provide the maximum amount of help to the families of future sufferers.

Many thanks for your support

Simon Palmer
