Hi - We have managed to achieve our target!! i.e. cycling from Land’s End to John o’Groats in 15 days. In fact we did it in 14! Having started in Cornwall on 4 July we reached the North East tip of Scotland on 17 July 2009. As ‘non-cyclists’, until mid May we were pleased to make the full distance (which for us turned out to be 897 miles).  Carrying our own kit, and 4 days of torrential rain and thunderstorms, made progress quite slow at times, but the fact we were doing it for charity kept us going and we met some great people along the way and saw some fantastic places.

As some of you will no doubt be aware Mark’s dad has for many years suffered from Dystonia (similar to Parkinson’s Disease). There are 40,000 Dystonia sufferers in the UK, and it affects people of all ages (2,000 sufferers are under 16!). For further details please see - http://www.dystonia.org.uk/

Hopefully our blog which detailed our training, preparations, plans and progress kept you informed and entertained! http://valeroyalseniors.webs.com/apps/blog/  - If you've read it you'll be well aware of the charity side of our ride! - and have noted that it is still not too late to donate!!!

Like a lot of medical charities the Dystonia Society relies on voluntary donations and individual fundraisers to fund all of the work that they do for people affected by the disease. The Society’s aims are to provide mutual support for those who suffer, and to raise awareness of the condition through education and the promotion of research. It needs money to do all of these.

So If you are able to sponsor us that would be great – any amount will be grateful received, it doesn’t have to be £1 a mile (although that would be nice!)

Thanks.

Mark & Dave

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Dystonia Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us!
