Story
THE CHALLENGE
On 10th of August 2006 the Methodist Minister in Tadley, North Hampshire, Reverend Gavin Rogers, sets off on a 1200 mile cycling adventure riding his mountain bike off-road from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’ Groats in North Eastern Scotland. The journey will take 23 days, covering some of the most scenic and challenging countryside Britain has to offer.
Averaging 50 miles a day on bumpy bridleways and dusty farm tracks, Rev. Rogers and his support riders, Paul Hampson and Martyn Chapman, will be guaranteed an endurance challenge par excellence.
Accommodation and meals will be provided by Stuart Daughters onboard his faithful Campervan, and Eleanor Knight will look after communications and administration from her base in Tadley.
THE PURPOSE
Of the money raised via this sponsored cycle ride, 60% will go towards the Christchurch Tadley Project and 40% will be used towards upgrading of the Schools and Church in Masajja and Kasaka, Uganda - towns with whom local Churches in Tadley have established practical, meaningful links.
