Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hi all
Firstly let us tell you a little about the charity that we are taking this insane challenge for. The South Cleveland Heart Fund (SCHF) was founded in 1995 to raise funds to support the Cardiothoracic Unit at James Cook University Hospital (JCUH) in its work and research. It is run by a committee chaired by Dr Adrian Davies, consultant cardiologist (Retd.), and consists of other consultants, surgeons and unpaid volunteers. All committee members are volunteers and all monies raised are used to purchase and items and equipment that will benefit the patients admitted to the Cardiothoracic Unit. If you would like to know more about SCHF their work and what the money has been used for please visit their website www.schf.org.uk.

So let me introduce you to the team....
Martin ‘biggo’ Fletcher (Charge Nurse Cardiac catheter Labs. JCUH)
I am definitely no Bradley ‘wiggo’ Wiggins but for what I lack in sporting prowess I make up for in enthusiasm and determination. For those that don’t know me, my current physique is probably more suited to a sumo wrestler than a cyclist! But I’m hoping that the training leading up to and throughout the challenge will hopefully see me a few stones lighter! Despite the intensity of the challenge I am looking forward to the challenge and hopefully raising some money for a great cause.
Simon Kendall (Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon)
Simon’s enthusiasm is totally infectious he has cycled for 18yrs and has always wanted to cycle LEJOG. He is looking forward to the challenge and raising as much as we can for SCHF.
Jost Mullenheim (Consultant Anaesthetist / Intensivist)
|
I am a keen cyclist for over 35 years. However, this will be the biggest challenge I have ever faced. I truly believe that you can achieve virtually everything if you really really want to. Doing this ride to support the Cleveland Heart Fund will give me the bit of extra power which will be desperately needed during the second half of the ride. I am grateful for Martin having initiated this epic trip through the country and I am looking forward to getting started. |
Kath ' chainsnapper ' Beal (Anaesthetic Nurse)
Though diminutive in size Kath is a power house of a cyclist and is no stranger to big rides.
Adrian Davies (Consultant Cardiologist (retd) / Chairman SCHF)
The larger than life Adrian is an integral part of the team as the support vehicle driver, as soon as I approached with my crackpot idea he was not only supportive but offered to help in any way he can. I’m sure he will be a great motivator across the challenge.
So all that is left now is to ask for your support and hopefully your donations no matter how small as every little helps.
