We fund research to stop prostate cancer killing men

Story

Steve Wakley and Jon Avery's challenge ride

We are planning on an unaided trek from Lands end to John O Groats starting on 27th May 2010 carrying nothing more than a couple of spare inner tubes some clean shorts, and a pair of flip flops for formal evening wear.

No back up and no backing out. 100 or so miles a day for 9 days.

We chose the Prostrate Cancer Charity because Jon lost his father to prostrate cancer and my father was one of the lucky ones to survive the treatment and now leads a full healthy life.

  • Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.
  • One man dies every hour in the UK 'Don't let prostate cancer hide' is this year's campaign to help get prostate cancer out in the open. It's a hidden cancer because not enough people talk about it. We can't see the prostate, and many people don't even know what it is or what it does.
  • Prostate cancer may cause similar symptoms to noncancerous prostate problems. Some men with prostate cancer may have no symptoms at all.
So our intention is to raise as much money as possible to help research into this hidden killer and at the same time raise awareness amongst men.
