Story
John O’ Groats to Lands End
My name is Len Morgan and I have been involved in historical re- enactment and living history for 30 years. I belong to the Roman Military Research Society of which I am a co-founder. My alter ego is as Tiberivs Clavdivs Fatalis, senior centurion of the 14th legion.
From the 1st of May 2007 and for the next two and a half months, I shall be attempting to walk from John O’ Groats to Lands End in civilian kit.
By road the distance is 874 miles, but I shall be following long distance footpaths like the West Highland Way, Pennine way etc.
I am looking at 1300 miles.
In 2003 at the age of 68, I walked from Lands End to John O’ Groats, 1000 miles in 57 walking days and raised over £1500 for autistic children.
This time I would like to raise money for The Army Benevolent Fund.
People still living from conflicts like the Second
World War, and others within living memory, who need help and support.
As re-enactors of living history, many of us portray soldiers of our chosen period. We have the luxury of rising from the dead at the end of a battle. Sadly the real heroes of the modern army are not so fortunate and even as survivors suffer horrendous injuries and trauma.
Please will you sponsor me to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause. I shall be self funding the walk and all monies will go to the charity.
Thankyou,
Len Morgan
Note:
Skirmish will keep a "Len Tracker" to tell you where I am and how I'm doing.
