For the Diocese of Ely Bishop's Lent Appeal 2010, The Rt Revd David Thomson is asking parishes to support Christian Blind Mission and Street Child World Cup, both international charities with local connections.

75% of the proceeds of the Appeal will go to Christian Blind Mission, whose headquarters are in Oakington. They are an international Christian development organisation, committed to improving the quality of life for those with disabilities in the poorest countries of the world.

The remaining quarter will go to Street Child World Cup which aims, via its international campaign, to make a difference and build a better future for hundreds of thousands of street children throughout the world. From March 14-21 2010 in South Africa they will bring together street children from eight different countries to play football. They will also be able to discuss the issues that are important to them.
