My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In a moment of madness fuelled by alcohol and therefor lacking any kind of judgement we thought the idea of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was a good one. For a couple of fitness freaks like ourselves the idea of climbing the highest trekable mountain in the world it is not only daunting but massively ironinc! So after 2 days of planning and an assist from our credit cards we booked. It then dawned on us we would have to drag a combined weight of 40 stone of unfit male specimin up all 19340 feet to the roof of Africa!

Training began, weight was lost and takeaway consumption was cut by at least 10%. We dropped from 20 fags a day to 18 and climbed the odd hill in practice and at the peak of our training we staggered up Scaffel Pike.

The idea was hatched 5 months ago and now its all paid for, kit bought, bags packed, bodies trimmed and nerves in pieces we thought it about time to beg people for thier hard earned cash . We are raising money for what we think is an extremely worthy cause so please give what you can. This undertaking is the challenge of a life time and we hope in doing so you deem it a worthwhile effort to part with your pennies.

We embark on the climb on 1st January 2012 and is a guided trek with the African Walking Company. This is the same company that took Chris Moyles up for Comic Releif, so if they can get him up we surely they can do the same for us! It's a 6 day trek where we will face every element this planet has to offer. We'll be subjected to temperatures from 30 C to -30 C through jungle, moorlands, plains and glaciers. We will be climbing the Rongai route which begins on the Kenyan side of the mountain and finishes on the Tanzanian side and if all goes to plan we will summit at around 7am on the 5th January.
