Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I have decided to try and raise some money for the Becca Owen Memorial Fund whilst taking part in the Wilmslow Half Marathon. Becca was a very close family friend of mine. She had decided to travel around the world after finishing her studies. She was to travel to Mexico to carry out turtle conservation work, a diving course and sightseeing and then on to Florida to visit relations. After that she was to travel to Peru for conservation work in the Rain Forest and to dig on the Inca trail. Then to Australia and New Zealand, Bali and Bora Bora. This was trip of a life time. On the 13th February 2005, less than four weeks into her travels, after a bat monitoring expedition, the minibus that Becca was travelling in, plunged down a 250 metre ravine, landing on a ridge 50 metres down. Becca and one other British girl were thrown from the bus and died instantly. She was 22 years old. Becca was a wonderful girl. She was kind, happy and full of life. Her infectious laugh could always be heard and her family were incredibly proud of her. Becca is missed by a lot of people both family and friends. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Becca Owen Memorial Fund will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support. Leon.
