Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me for the Trek Morocco in June in memory of my lovely husband George who sadly died of cancer in August 2006. All the money raised (I paid for the Trek costs myself) has gone direct to The Foundation for Conductive Education to support children and adults with physical disabilities. http://www.globaladv.org/events/morocco/morocco.html will show you what it entailed! I found the Trek quite challenging and, having reached the Neltner Refuge Base Camp at 10,522 ft decided not to attempt the summit at 13,671 ft - a good decision I think! However, as Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain is 4,409 ft, I do have a sense of achievement. When I met George in 1990 he was a volunteer for young people with physical disabilities at Hereward College in Coventry as well as doing his day job as an Accountant. A couple of years ago he was involved in a very innovative project to encourage children in wheelchairs to be more safety conscious and road aware so I know helping physically disabled people was dear to his heart. Over the years of our marriage he was very supportive of my fundraising roles - always there to support and help so this seems a fitting way of remembering him. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me to date both on- and off-line (including George's mum Elsie) and sent me such warm and heartening messages. It is really kind of you all. Official Bit
