Story
July 12 Briancon to Digne-Les-Bains (187km)
It was July. It was in the Alps. It was a very long way on a bike. The ride included 5 major climbs through a relentless barrage of breathtaking scenery which peaked at 1332m on Col Saint-Jean at the half way stage. With Nick, Phil, John and Sarah sharing roles as "domestiques" and team car drivers I spent nearly 8 hours in the saddle, in temperatures of up to 35' - but I made it. Thanks guys - I think!!
Two days later we went to wave off the Pros from Briancon as they did it in 4 and a half hours!
See www.letour.com/2005/presentationus/profil_12.html for more info on the Stage.
Thanks also to all my sponsors. By supporting me you have supported both the efforts of Leonard Cheshire here in the UK and in the Chennai region of India that was amongst those devastated at the turn of the year (£2,500 will replace a fishing boat, £1,000 will replace a house, £60 will feed 3 families for a month). If you haven't yet made a donation, do please consider it - it's not too late! NB Donating through this site is totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Leonard Cheshire will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax can be added to your gift at no cost to you. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, and for your support. Now - what's next...?
