Right now for the story...

 

• 2007 – My wife Becky spotted a dodgy looking mole on the back of her leg which turned out was skin cancer. She had it removed, but then….

• In 2012, 5 years later she noticed a lump in her groin – it had spread to her lymph nodes.

• In the summer of 2013 she had a 1/3 of her lung removed as it had also spread there.

 

We thought this was enough for one person to endure... Then in January 2014 a regular CT scan showed an area of concern. This scan showed that a tumour had formed just below the kidney. Obviously coming as a shock to us all, it hit us all hard. But one person remained so strong. That of course was Becky! 

 

Under Dr Stevens and his excellent medical Team at the Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham, they decided to target this new area of concern with a new combination of drugs. These drug trials and the ability to use them are partly due to the money raised for the QE Fighting Skin Cancer charity: allowing research and funding for the licence of the drugs.

 

This is one of the reasons we chose to do the 3peaks challenge because we have seen first hand what difference charitable donations make!
