Sunday 17th April 2011

We finished our charity cycle ride at 4pm today and clocked 165.88 miles in total.  The first part of the journey ran from Chichester to Rottingdean near Brighton and was 61 miles.  We then headed North over the South Downs towards Lewes, and then headed East ending the day in Rye, 54 miles.  Today, our final day, we made good progress across Romney Marshes and up the North Downs past Lympne Castle.  The final leg of the journey took us through Elham, Sandwich and on to Richborough Castle, the final 50.88 miles . Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored us.  We would really like to reach our target  so please still donate if you can ! And thanks to our Dads for coming with us again this year :o)

Last year we raised over £1,350 for disadvantaged children in Africa by walking the 46 mile coastal route from Chatham to Birchington. This year we wanted to raise more money and have set ourselves another big challenge, this time on behalf of seriously ill children in Britain [read more below]. During our Easter holidays we are going to attempt to cycle 134 miles from Fishbourne Roman Palace in Chichester, Sussex to Richborough Castle (Fort and Amphitheatre) in Ash, Kent during the weekend of 16th and 17th April.

If you would like to support us in this effort we would really appreciate a donation, NO MATTER HOW SMALL. The "Have A Heart" appeal being run by Heart Radio supports the amazing work of Children's Hospices UK [ http://www.childhospice.org.uk/ ] in providing care and support to seriously ill children and their families in their own homes. Children far less fortunate than us.

Once you donate, Justgiving will send your money directly to the 'Have a Heart' appeal [ http://www.heart.co.uk/have-a-heart/ ] and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the best way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please dig deep and donate now. We would really love to beat the amount we raised last year - and we suspect that the challenge is going to hurt more as well!
