Story
A team from Defra has entered a marathon this Sunday... some of us entered unwittingly. In fact, it's not a marathon, it's 30 miles. Even the Ancient Greeks would think that ridiculous. Some of us didnt realise we had to run it, let alone complete it within a time limit. Some haven't even done any training. None. Not a bit. And now it's too late to get out of it.
At least if you would sponsor us, it would make this ridiculous challenge more palatable and encourage us.
The African Medical Research Foundation (AMREF, aka the Flying Doctors) have been providing healthcare to remote communities in Africa for 50 years. Africa has the highest incidence of HIV/ AIDS in the world and malaria and tuberculosis are endemic. AMREF, where team member Liane is currently seconded, is training health workers in rural communities about preventing and treating these diseases, as well as helping to look after the orphans they leave.
It could do more. Please sponsor us.
Thank you
Team Defra
