Throwing myself out of a plane...as my friends keep reminding me(!!!)...is the last thing I should be considering. Normally I would have to agree with them. However, I recently discovered an amazing charity called Bottletop through a friend of mine. They are unique in the way that they help to prevent young people from HIV infections or falling pregnant too young, which ruins not only their lives but the young lives of their future children.

I have visited the favellas in Rio and I know that this is causing the break down of society and is one of the main factors leading to the drug problems, gang violence and unnecessary death. Five young people are infected with HIV every minute and worldwide over 80% of young men and women aged 15 - 24 don't know how HIV is transmitted. This means that unsafe sex is now the second biggest risk factor leading to disability or death in the poorest communities.

This all sounds very scary and unresolvable but there are amazing projects happening all over the world. Bottletop have incredible programs in Malawi, Rwanda, Brazil and here in the UK. They tackle this issue in a way which is meaningful for young people and we help them gain the skills to avoid other STD's, unplanned pregnancies and get on with their lives as we all want to.
