Story
My name is Amy Bendall and on May 15th 2010, I'm organising and walking a 'Mile in Memory' of my
daughter Lily Avo (October 2nd 2007 - March 9th 2008). You can light a virtual candle for our precious
baby girl here. But please be sensitive and don't use this link for anything other than this purpose,
please remember its a memorial page for our angel.
I'm organising this event to aid The Foundation for the Study of Infant Death Syndrome, please read about
them here. They are a charity close to my heart because they helped me and my family through losing our
baby girl Lily.
My daughter passed away from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) commonly called cot-death, on March 9th
2008. Please feel free to read my parent story here, on the FSID website. Needless to say this almost
killed me and Lilys daddy Jamie. FSID were an amazing support throughout this horrific time, and they
even placed us on a wonderful scheme called CONI (Care Of the Next Infant) when we were expecting our
second child. They saved our sanity and the help and advice they gave us was and is invaluable. I am
organising my second 'Mile in Memory' of Lily this year to help raise funds and spread awareness for the
charity. They have given me and Jamie so much, I just want to give something back really...
The walk is going to take place through Oxford Street in Swansea City Centre and is held in memory of our
Lily. Most of our friends and family were involved last year in some way or another. Last year we had
about 40 people all together and with the money from sponsors, we raised over £800!! We had a lovely day
and are so proud of the final total. BUT this year we're aiming even higher and going for £1000!!
So come on guys... Please sponsor me for FSID, they are an amazing organisation and truly saved my life.
Anyone who has gone through something like SIDS will know what I mean. And the syndrome is more common
than I realised before it happened to us. The charity is so deserving of our support and even if you can
only donate a pound then thats great! Anything given will be hugely appreciated by FSID and by myself.
So thank you for visiting my JustGiving Page and massive thanks in advance to those of you who can
donate!
UPDATE - The walk was FANTASTIC! The weather held out and loads of people turned up. Also, thank you hugely to everyone who has donated on here, last year I took £33 on Justgiving so I am amazed and so pleased that we've got such a huge amount on here this year so far. Lets keep our fingers crossed that I get to my target of £500!!
