The PKD charity provides information and support to patients and families affected by polycystic kidney disease, funds research into discovering possible treatments and raises awareness of PKD, providing information to patients, the public, the medical community and the media.

<p>Thanks for taking the time to visit the CIO Finance and Risk Cardiff Half Marathon&nbsp;JustGiving page.</p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial;">A few of us have registered to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday 16<sup>th</sup> October and we will be running for The Polycystic Kidney Disease charity <a href="http://www.pkdcharity.co.uk/">http://www.pkdcharity.co.uk/</a>. </span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial;">This is a charity close to Linda Cooke&rsquo;s heart as her brother has the disease. It is a disease </span></span><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">in which fluid-filled cysts develop in both kidneys </span></span><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial;">causing total kidney failure. Transplant is the only option to extend the individuals life expectancy as there is no cure.
