STOP PRESS I did it - it was wet, raining and cold - and we had to wait 2 hours for a start time delay - thus my illegal double dose of ibuprofen was wearing off (if I die - Jonesy precribed it!!!). But I did it in a respectable 2 hours 10 mins. It was a fabulous day and we were quite overwhelmed by the support - a million thanks to Jac, Mel, Simon, Julia, Joe, Rory, Anna, Chris and Ceri who came out and cheered us on (and The Magoo's and AB for putting us up) - it made a tremendous difference. Also thanks to EVERYONE who has (or about to!!) donate - it was this that pysched us to run and to get round the 13.1 miles. Will I do it again??? once the black toe nails have fallen off and I can walk again without looking deformed ..... maybe!!!! Thanks again you wonderful lot - we have raised an enormous amount for the Momentum kids and we should all be proud of that. Lots of love to you all Linda x x x x x Hi there I am running the Bath Half Marathon on 16th March 2007 - my first big running event (by far!!) I'm a little (big!!) bit nervous but have a great personal trainer and an amazing charity to run for. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My chosen charity is Momentum which is close to my heart. Those of you who know me will know (or know of) Joshua (see picture) who 2 days before his 2nd Birthday was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He bravely endured extensive brain surgery twice and a gruelling year and a half of chemotherapy. He is now 8 and enjoying school, chess, football and the latest super heros!!. His Mum Jacqui co founded the charity Momentum after seeing the quality of life of children like Joshua and their families could be improved - they have achieved amazing results including a therapy garden for children in the cancer isolation unit at Kingston Hospital (where Joshua spent a total of 80 days whilst undergoing chemo) - please have a look at the website and the super things that have been done with funds raised. www.moment-um.org
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Momentum will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me!
Many thanks for your support. Lots of love Linda UPDATE ... Feb 21st 2008 I am so overwhelmed by the generosity I have experienced so far. I can't thank you all enough for sponsoring me. This generosity has further motivated me to take my training seriously and those who work with me or see me regularily will be bored rigid by my running tales!! I bore myself!!! I am not a natural runner - that said I am training 4 times a week (one with my boot camp trainer!!!) and am up to over 8 miles so am confident I will at least get round the 13.1 mile route. I have settled into my own pace and when running outside on a crisp sunny day I can say I actually enjoy it and am certainly enjoying the challenge. Whenever my lungs feel like bursting or my legs feel like crumbling I think of Joshua and the Momentum kids and somehow manage to give myself a good kick up the ass!! Will keep you posted. Heartfelt thanks again Linda x x x Feb 28th - did 10 miles - in rain and gusty winds - slowly but didn't stop ..... can hardly believe it ..... bet everyone else can't either!!! 4 days to go .................. well the 16th looms and actually I am looking forward to it ........ storms aside the training has worked and am now slowing down as I'm told I should. I really look forward to letting you all know that your kind donations have been worthwhile..... I ran on Monday and will do a short one tomorrow ... then it's lots of pasta and porridge until Sunday (no problem with that!!). The weather forecast isn't brilliant but running for such an amazing cause and also the miles of pain that Mark my trainer has put me through will get us through. Will let you know how we get on but a million thanks for your generosity and encouragement. x x x x
