Our vision is to engage with communities and to introduce sustainable projects that break through cycles of poverty, restoring dignity and reviving hope. Many people, especially in these days of economic recession, have reached a point where they cannot even feed themselves and their children. The foodbank network, now in over forty-five towns across the UK, meets this need, feeding over 35,000 people every year, and helping them to find hope and dignity. In London the foodbank network is working with Premier Radio's "Love London" campaign with the objective of setting up a foodbank in every Borough in London. In our home town of Salisbury, in addition to running a busy foodbank, we have many projects that provide work and job opportunities for individuals with physical and mental difficulties. Our Re-Store charity shop this year won the Charity Shop of the Year "best team" award, reflecting the success of our work with supported volunteers. The work of the charity started in Bulgaria, the poorest country in the EU. Here we care for children and young people mainly from the Roma community, the most marginalised group of people in Europe. Projects include supporting an orphanage school and 'The House of Opportunity' residential training programme, which teaches life skills and provides employment experience to vulnerable tengaging with communities and introducing sustainable projects that break through cycles of poverty. My story

Thanks for supporting me run the Flora London Marathon! This will be my first (and probably last!) marathon, so I'd love to make it worthwhile by raising a shedload of money for The Trussell Trust who are making a real difference in the Salisbury area, and across the UK.

The Trussell Trust run the Salisbury foodbank, which works with local care professionals to identify and distribute emergency food to people in crisis. The food is all non-perishable and donated by the public. The Trussell Trust have turned their Salisbury foodbank idea into a national network of foodbanks. 33 foodbanks have been launched between 2003-2008 and the Trust hopes to see even more grow in 2009.

The current economic climate means that more and more people are turning to foodbanks for help, but this means The Trussell Trust need more food and funds than ever. So please dig deep and give what you can... money, tins of food, pasta, cereal... you get the picture!
