This year I will be running Race 4 Life in aid of Cancer Research UK.

My family and I have been fortunate enough to not have experienced Cancer. However, professionally, I have seen the devastation Cancer can cause. As a student Learning Disability Nurse, I have worked with people with a learning disability who have been diagnosed with Cancer. For anyone, a Cancer diagnosis is devastating, overwhelming and confusing. For someone who has a learning disability, it can be extremely difficult to understand their diagnosis and what it may entail. I have had the privilege to work alongside some inspirational people with a learning disability who have battled Cancer, beat all odds and come out on top. I am running Race 4 Life on behalf of all those I have been lucky enough to work with, to honour their courage and bravery.
