Story
Hi everyone.
So after seeing the truly devastating footage from Japan over the last few days, we decided we needed to do something to help.
We don't own a rescue helicopter or have loads of cash but we are always willing to take on a challenge.
So the plan is to run a marathon. All 26.2 miles of it.. With just 4 weeks training.
In itself this is a challenge, but if you add to that the fact that Alex went for her first run in forever last night, Linz has never gone further than 10km and Alex has the joints of a 60 year old... .
It's going to hurt without a doubt, alot. But it's worth every step if we can raise some cash for the relief efforts in Japan.
The course will be Skipton to Leeds on the 9th April:
Skipton - Gallows Bridge to Kildwick – 4½ miles
Kildwick to Silsden – 2 miles
Silsden to Cross Flatts, Bingley – 6½ miles
Cross Flatts, Bingley to Saltaire – 3½ miles
Saltaire to Apperley Bridge to – 3½ miles
Apperley Bridge to Rodley Swing Bridge –3 miles
Rodley Swing Bridge to Leeds Kirkstall – 3 miles
Pub.
So please, this is the bit when you type your bank details in below.
***Update 24 March
Hi all -after two x ten mile runs over the weekend and genuinelly starting to believe i may actually do this, i found myself in A&E on Tuesday morning unable to walk on my ankle - thanks to some rough terrain.. (yes there were tears...and a hot doctor).
After full rest and compression etc all week this week i still can't put full pressure on my foot, and i'm told putting a high level of impact on my ankle when it's not healed will potentially give me some serious long term damage. With this in mind had to make the tough decision to come up with a Plan B...
Linz will still run 26.2 miles Skipton - Leeds
I will cycle Leeds- Skipton then Skipton to Leeds (52.4miles)
The challenge is still tough, and the charity still very worthy. And if you know me, you will know how much it's killing me not being able to go through with the run - Alex
