Story
There's no denying it – dogs are AMAZING...
They are a lifeline for disabled people, giving them greater independence and a better quality of life
They join our soldiers on the frontline, guarding military bases and detecting explosive devices out on patrol
They join our police on the streets, tracking criminals and sniffing out drugs, money and weapons
They assist the emergency services, helping to locate victims of all kinds of events; the London Blitz, the Boxing Day Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 – you name it, dogs were there helping us.
Above all, they are the lifelong companion for millions of people around the world and there are so many heart-warming stories out there about how individual dogs help us every day.
Sadly, there are also many heartbreaking stories, with millions of unwanted and abused dogs.
That’s why I’m jumping out of a plane on the 17 May, to raise money for a dog shelter where I volunteer. Animals in Need – Maxicare is a registered charity dedicated to saving stray and unwanted dogs from death row. The people there are the most selfless people I know, giving up their time and energy to help the dogs day-in day-out.
Every single penny I raise will go towards making over 50 dogs as happy as possible whilst they wait for their forever home; water, heating, food, bedding, treats, toys, vet bills – there’s so much to consider.
But if you can’t donate then why not go to your local shelter and volunteer for the day... You could even consider fostering or adopting... And if you can’t do that then please network and share my page to spread the word. It's not about grand gestures - anyone and everyone can do something to help these beautiful creatures.
Thank you, on behalf of all the dogs and the volunteers.
