I am spending 7 days trekking to Romania's highest peak in the Carpathian Mountains in July 2010 - when I would rather of course be at home with my feet up but there you are. There is a good reason for doing this and that is to help raise money for four projects that Link Romania supports:- 1. Kindergarten in Dallas Shanty Town – Iasi, RomaniaI visited each of these projects last December and was fortunate to meet some of the people these projects benefit. An old lady who hadn't eaten for three days and had no food in the house who opened the door to find a meals on wheels team standing there with food and support. Visiting the Farm of Hope who have 16 beds ready and waiting to take boys off the street but they aren't allowed because they have no fire alarm system!. To visiting the houses of families who live in one room without running water, heating or electricity and seeing some of their children being able to attend a kindergarten and have the opportunity to gain an education they they couldn't dream off.
Thats what makes me want to climb the highest peak in Romania and help raise money for Link Romania to continue with these projects. I know without doubt the impact that money does have on peoples lives because I've met them.
