Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

  1. My Story

On Monday 25th April 2011, completely out of the blue, I was diagnosed with Myeloma which is cancer of the blood plasma cells. I had always been healthy and fit, like many working mums juggling multiple tasks of work, children, home and relishing it. As a wife and mum, with 2 young children and a busy job, this has meant a massive change to all our lives.

There is currently no cure for Myeloma. The medical treatment I receive from the team at the Western General & the Royal Marsden is fantastic, and with the phenomenal support of Andrew Anderson and his team at Maggie's Edinburgh we are looking to the future in a positive way.

Maggie's has provided so much support for us already and has become a haven for me......Walking into the centre is like walking into the warm sunshine.

I set out to raise £50K and what an amazing three years it has been, with so many people undertaking their own "challenges" and raising much needed funds for Maggie's Edinburgh. We have currently raised £432,153.00 - huge thanks to everyone involved. As I look forward to christmas I am hugely grateful to be here and also for the amazing support my Challenge for Maggie's has received.

Whilst this journey would never have been a chosen one and continues to present many challenges, I have learnt so much, met some incredible people and been overwhelmed with the support of so many people. I am particularly grateful to the support of my girlfriends who help me live with this disease every day.

The various challenges undertaken have been incredible and so varied - please do read the updates.
